In 1949, the communist party ruled China and has continued to ever since (73 million members-largest in the world). There are some advantages this political system, such as a powerful central government, political stability, a blend of Chinese tradition and socialism, and a bond between government and the people. ​

But why would the government invest and create incentives for renewable energy development?
There are a few common reasons used to justify a government's role in renewable energy investment: energy security and affordability, the potential for job creation, future economic strategic positioning, and addressing environmental and other externalities.

The Renewable Energy Law is a framework policy which lays out the general conditions for renewable energy to become a more important energy source in the country. It covers all modern forms of renewable energy, such as wind, solar, water, biomass, geothermal, and ocean energy.
